I. Site Selection & Layout Requirements

Location & Transportation: Prioritize regions with warm climates and long summers. The park should be located in suburban areas or along major transport routes, with ample parking (approximately 100150 spaces per 1,000 visitors during peak season).

Site Area & Terrain: A medium-sized park is generally recommended to occupy no less than 30,00050,000 square meters. Flat terrain is preferred; elevation differences can be used for lazy rivers or slide splash pools. Avoid geological hazard zones such as landslide-prone areas or floodplains.

Municipal Utilities: Ensure adequate water supply (often hundreds of tons of daily make-up water), a strong power supply (total installed capacity may reach several thousand kVA), and comprehensive stormwater and wastewater drainage systems.

II. Design, Equipment & Safety Requirements

This is the most critical part, directly relating to visitor safety.

Slide Design: Follow the safety principles of "entry, sliding, deceleration, and stop." The depth (generally about 1 meter) and length of the splash pool at the slide exit must be calculated to ensure a person can stop safely. All structures must comply with national standards such as the "Safety Code for Large Amusement Devices."

Safety & Depth Markings: At the entrance of each attraction, clearly display restrictions on height, weight, age, medical warnings, and proper riding posture (e.g., "must lie flat, cross arms over chest"). All water areas (wave pools, lazy rivers, etc.) must have clearly marked depth zones.

Anti-Slip Flooring: All wet, accessible surfaces throughout the park must be made of materials with high slip resistance the British Pendulum Number (BPN) is generally required to be greater than 60.

Lifeguard & Monitoring Systems: Employ certified lifeguards based on water area and visitor capacity (e.g., one lifeguard per 250 sq m in wave pools). In addition, high-definition monitoring with no blind spots is required, along with public address and intercom systems for emergency coordination.

III. Water Treatment & Quality Requirements

Water clarity and hygiene are the lifeline of the visitor experience.

Water Treatment Standards: Must strictly comply with the "Standards for Hygienic Indicators and Limits in Public Places" (GB 37488-2019). Key indicators: turbidity 1 NTU (crystal clear), free residual chlorine 0.31.0 mg/L, pH 7.07.8, along with controlled levels of urea and total bacteria count.

Water Treatment System: Must include a complete system with circulation filtration (filtering the entire pool volume once every 68 hours), disinfection (commonly chlorine, ozone, or UV), and heating (recommended water temperature 2528°C). During peak periods, 5%10% fresh water should be replenished daily.

Special Attraction Processes: Wave pool "beaches" should be gentle and prevent backwash; lazy river flow rates and turbulence design must allow tubes to pass safely through all areas.

IV. Supporting Facility Requirements

Changing & Shower Areas: The number of shower heads and lockers should be 15%20% of the park's daily design visitor capacity, with reasonable zoning. Floors must be slipresistant and drain well.

Dining & Rest Areas: Provide waterproof, easytoclean tables, chairs, and umbrellas for shade. Dining areas should be located away from the wettest zones, and glassware is strictly prohibited.

FirstAid Station: A clearly visible, wellaccessible firstaid station must be equipped with nurses, firstaid equipment, and oxygen. Large parks should also establish a greenchannel agreement with nearby hospitals.

V. Equipment Selection

It is recommended that investors, after forming a preliminary interest, conduct onsite inspections of manufacturers' production facilities and existing installations check whether production processes are standardized, and ask reallife operating parks about their actual experiences. Comparing multiple options and making careful decisions is the only way to build a water park that is both popular and profitable.

A successful water park is not only a profitable investment, but also a place that brings joy to millions of families. From that perspective, every bit of thought put into the equipment is worthwhile.
